Our Story

The company founder, Antero Gil de Viveiros Rego, chose to leave his stable job to pursue a project focused on promoting the Azores and their tourism potential.

On February 12, 1971, with two partners, he created Ilha Verde Rent a Car, starting with a fleet of six vehicles.

Over time, the business expanded and helped strengthen the visibility of Ilha Verde and the Azores in regional, national and international markets.

Today, Ilha Verde Rent a Car is recognized as the largest car rental company in the Azores, with a modern and diversified fleet across almost all islands.
